Gears of War was released in 2006 for PC and PlayStation 2. It was developed by Epic Games and published by Microsoft, with a modified version of the Unreal Engine 3 technology. On March 11, 2007, it was released as a downloadable title for Windows Vista. In 2008 it was ported to the Xbox 360 as well as the PlayStation 3 via third-party developers using Unreal Engine 2. In June 2011, Gears of War: Judgment was announced to be coming to the PC as a part of Windows 8 launch celebration. The game added remastered graphics and new content (including remastered versions of The Getaway and Beast From Below) that debuted on Xbox 360 in November 2011, although Judgment's multiplayer content is not available for Windows 8 users due to technical reasons.
